The Hillbillies (1935)

Titles read: ’NOW Pathe Pictorial has pleasure in presenting THE HILLBILLIES - Troubadours of the Prairie in ’Hannah’.’ Pathe Studio, London. On a set dressed to look like a forest clearing at night we see the four Hillbillies sitting around a camp fire, playing and singing ’Hannah’. One plays guitar, one plays banjo, another plays the accordion and the other man sings and plays mouth organ. All wear cowboy garb. The song is upbeat with some yodelling. 01:08:53 Followed by another item showing the Hillbillies on a different set, performing another upbeat song - not sure of title but could be ’Lonely Cowboy’ or ’Lay Me Down To Rest’. More yodelling in this one. This seems to be cut from a later compilation as we see brief shots of MC Ronald Frankau at the beginning and end. I cannot find details of where item originally comes from but this could be taken from Pathe’s ’Saturday Night Revue’ compilation from 1937? FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
