Lavrov on Thursday praised the strong bond between Russia and China during his annual press conference on Russian diplomacy of 2023. He highlighted the economic collaboration, citing bilateral trade volume reaching over the target of $200 billion in 2023. Lavrov emphasized that the interests of Russia and China align, giving an example for resolving issues globally. Speaking of Ukraine, he expressed confidence in achieving Russia’s goals and dismissed Western attempts to force a strategic failure in Russia. Lavrov clarified that Russia did not threaten the West with nuclear weapons and warned Western countries against threatening Russia.
