1979 Guy Lafleur disco record album LP Montreal Canadiens

In 1979, Guy Lafleur and disco music were both very popular. So someone had the idea of combining the two and decided to make a Guy Lafleur hockey instructional record set to disco music. That might have seemed like a good idea at the time, but, after listening to the finished product, it probably wasn’t the best idea that a marketing person has ever come up with (although it’s still way better than the marketing people who came up with the new name, Club de Foot, for Montreal’s soccer team). The record was produced in two different versions: one in English and one in French. So people who spoke either one of Canada’s two official languages were able to experience the cheesiness of this record. The album contains 6 songs: 2 of them are disco songs, while the other 4 have Lafleur giving instructions on skating, checking, shooting and scoring, accompanied by a disco beat, as well as by backup singers occasionally chiming in with lyrics such as, “Yes, you can do it.
