Thanks to Jewish composers of polish interwar songs, cultural exchange took place between the dominant Polish culture and the popular Yiddish culture with it’s own cabarets and music. Many Polish hits had Yiddish versions and some Yiddish shlagiers had polish versions. Sometimes 2 different versions show cultural differences like in a case of the most famous interwar polish tango – Ostatnia Niedziela, written by polish artists of Jewish descent: Jerzy Petersburski and Zenon Friedwald. In Yiddish it became „the letstikn Shabes” - the last Shabat...
Reconstruction of pre-war Yiddish version was made by Alexander Fisz.
Concert was supported by Polish Culture Institute New York, Polish Embassy Washington DC and Momentum Artists
