Have you ever experienced what it’s like to be in a earthquake? Up until this year, I never had the pleasure of being scared out of my wits by one of these ground-shaking monsters. I’ve felt a small tremor here and there, but nothing like the quake that hit Sofia, Bulgaria on May 22, 2012. I woke to ear-splitting cracking sounds while my entire apartment swayed back and forth in complete darkness. I was freaked out and completely helpless. After that, I decided I wouldn’t be caught unprepared again.
