Simulation of drilling process in the LS-DYNA. Video tutorial (incomplete)

Detailed sequence of steps in the simulation of drilling process in the LS-DYNA using LS-PREPOST with text comments. Objective: To simulate drilling of a cylindrical work piece 14 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick with a drill 10 mm in diameter. Speed of drill rotation - 600 rpm. Drill feed - 1 mm/revolution. It is required to have work piece and waste dimensions, tension, deformation and temperature for model elements as well as energy and force. The features of this tutorial: - the use of material models Johnson-Cook with accumulation of damage, the coefficients of destruction, the equation of state and the additional thermal parameters; - the inclusion of the thermal parameters in the drilling process; - use the contact between one part (between the waste and the blank); - provides additional information on adjusting the drilling parameters (damping, hourglass, etc.) - detailed analysis of the post-processor.
