Titles read: “ACRES OF PLENTY!“ California, United States of America. Various shots show farmers from the Midwest of America arriving in California to start a new life after their own farms have shrivelled and become derelict. Government Farm Worker camps are shown. Several shots of life in the camps including worker’s dwellings, farm workers signing up for work, the committee that runs the camp, administration / office staff at work (C/U of words of a telegram being compiled), migrant workers seen relaxing in the clubhouse, reading and playing pool. We then see various shots showing the communal farm and how it is run. Heavy crop spraying. Crops such as walnuts (from sprigs of English walnut trees grafted onto native walnut trees), grapes, peaches and sugar beet are seen being cultivated and harvested.
