Collision

Video of Collision at Hay point anchorage. At approximately 1209hrs AEST 16 July 2024 the bulk carrier HL Eco whilst manoeuvring to anchor at the northern anchorage N8 at Hay Point has reportedly suffered a main engine propulsion system has resulted in loss of control of the HL Eco which has subsequently struck another vessel, the bulk carrier YM Serenity, at an adjacent anchorage has resulted in the bow and anchor of the YM Serenity striking the port hand side aft (rear) of the HL Eco causing some damage to the aft structure of the HL Eco and the main-deck port side, carrying away the starboard anchor and some anchor chain whilst damaging the forecastle area of the YM Serenity in the process. The collision between the two vessels was immediately reported to MSQ Hay Point VTS who were monitoring the situation, have immediately activated an emergency towage response involving 2 x DalTug vessels the Kolijo and Karloo to assist with assessing the situation and provide assistance as required.
