Trump commended for his ‘leadership’ after attempt on his life
Nationals Senator Matt Canavan has commended Donald Trump for his “leadership” following the attempt on his life.
Former US president Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at his rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
Despite sustaining an injury to his ear from a flying bullet, the former president is still expected to attend the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.
“The Prime Minister was right that it was an attack on democracy, but it was an attack ultimately repelled by the defiance, the resilience, and bravery of Donald Trump,” Mr Canavan told Sky News host James Morrow.
“Everybody saw that. Pretty much everybody except your most dyed-in-the-wool activist Democrat is very impressed with how a man who was just shot immediately gets up and shows that level of defiance.
“That’s leadership … and he’s running for the leader of the free world.”
