U.S. Coal Mines (1947)

Unissued / Unused material. American coal mines. C/U huge chainsaw / drill cutting through the rock. M/S as it emerges watched by miners. M/S’s coal on trucks coming out of the mine. Various underground shots of coal trucks being filled from conveyor belt. M/S miners. Various shots of them at work. C/U of a baby held by a nurse, it is examined by a doctor with a stethoscope at a clinic. M/S baby crying as doctor listens to its chest. M/S as another baby is brought in and cries when the doctor looks at its ears and throat. M/S as doctor examines miner’s throat, he smiles. C/U happier baby, M/S doctor tapping its back. M/S room full of mothers and fathers with their babies (mostly mothers). Exterior of new house built for miners. The family come out and people wave to people who are passing by.
