This recording was made on May 5, 1949, during the first Lanza’s commercial recording session at RCA Victor, the same day when his absolutely superb version of “Che gelida manina“ was made. The one which was subsequently voted the operatic recording of the year by “National Record Critics Association“ , and later added by RCA to their “Hall of Fame“ catalogue of historical recordings. It is no exaggeration to say that Lanza produced some of the best singing of his career that day.
