Tutorial #7 - Rockabilly Boogie Guitar - Carl Perkins Style - part 2 - Jez Quayle

In this video I teach more of the boogie guitar technique Carl Perkins used to accompany himself when singing his rockabilly classics ’Blues Suede Shoes’, ’Boppin the Blues’, ’Gone Gone Gone’, etc. Carl not only used this technique when playing his own compositions, but also when covering other artists’ rock ’n’ roll songs. The riffs and licks I present here sound great on both acoustic and electric guitar. Here’s a contents list (with times) so you can jump to topics if you wish to: - Demonstration: ’Boppin’ the Blues’ in key of A - 00:07 - 12-Bar Blues in the Key of A - 02:00 - Boogie Riff played in place of an A chord - 02:54 - Palm damping - 03:26 - Boogie Riff played in place of a D chord - 06:12 - Variation Boogie Riff played in place of a D chord - 07:35 - Boogie Riff played in place of an E chord - 08:36 - Walk-up Lick (moving from A chord to D chord) - 09:05 - Ending lick (key of A) - 10:18 - 12-Bar Blues in the Key
