Alexi Laiho was my first real idol when I was learning guitar as a teenager. I spent insane hours playing along to the Hatebreeder album and even started wearing a beanie 24/7 and painting my nails black to be just like him! Needless to say I was devastated to hear the news of his passing this morning. After having read all of the Instagram posts about him today I feel that he was just as inspiring to countless others as he was to me.
