What can teachers do to motivate children in their classrooms?

Bearing in mind that motivation is an internal thing, we need to work on creating situations that allow children to be motivated. The ‘Self-determination theory’ mentions three conditions which help to achieve this: connection, competence and autonomy. These three conditions work for all of us at any age throughout our lives.
