Gilead – Totentanz (Thousand Times 2015)

Totentanz is one of the standard melodies in repertoire of every folk group, especially if there are bagpipes there, if you see that you should know Totentanz was played on them more than once. In medieval ages one of the worse diseases was plague. Once it killed a third of population in Europe. People were scared of what was, happening around : they blamed demons and spirits, some thought that plague is a judgement for their sins. The invisible death seemed to walk around mortals. Fears of hopeless people were reflected in tales, music and pictures. In that time in painting appeared the term «Totentanz» ( de “The dance of death“) - it was something like iconography, depicted transitory of life in allegoric scenes. Inspired by pictures appeared music, among this music was “Totentanz“. “No matter a king or a beggar - the death is doing it’s work“. ➤FOLLOW US Vkontakte: Facebook: Insta
