Think of the Gordon Murray Automotive as the spiritual successor to the McLaren F1. Designed by Gordon Murray - creator of the F1, designer of championship-winning F1 cars for Brabham and McLaren - the is a new analogue supercar. Its construction is carbon fibre. It has three seats, with the driver’s seat in the middle. Behind that is a 654bhp (663hp) V12. There is no 0-60mph time or top speed quoted as yet, because that emphatically isn’t what this car is about, Murray tells Autocar, here. Instead, he says, it’s about the driving experience: which is why it weighs just 986kg, why Cosworth has co-operated on a brand new naturally aspirated engine and why it drives the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
