Niño Rivera - Nuevo Son

Nino Rivera was a Cuban tres player (tresero), probably most famous for playing with the group El Conjunto Modelo and with Israel Cachao Lopez and Mongo Santamaria. He also played with his own band, entitled Nino Rivera Y Su Conjunto and in the all-stars band Estrellas de Areito. Nino Rivera was born Andrés Perfecto Eleuterio Goldino Confesor Echevarría Callava on April 18, 1919. He started playing Tres when around 9 years old and then joined his first band at 15. In his early life he was a student of the guitarist Guyún (Vincente Gonzalez Rubiera). He became popular during the 1930s. His daughter, Gloria Rivera, is also a singer and lives in Minnesota.
