Hurricane chasing: Team Dominator deploys the Surginator network to measure dangerous storm surge!

Thanks to Flex Seal for sponsoring this video and powering our science mission. STORM SURGE is defined as the rise and onshore surge of seawater from the wind and atmospheric pressure fall associated with a coastal storm. Storm surge is the most powerful and destructive force of hurricanes and other tropical cyclones, but real-time data of surge is uniquely sparse as these storms make landfall. In partnership with @GetFlexSeal, Team Dominator has developed a live storm surge sensor called the Surginator, which is capable of streaming live data on storm surge depth, wave action, and water salinity/temperature when deployed ahead of a landfalling storm. The ultimate goal is to deploy a vast network of multiple Surginators along the entire impacted coastline ahead of each hurricane, such that life-saving information on the dangerous storm surge can be streamed in real-time to the public. This video shows the storm surge data collected during Hurricane Ida, which made landfall near Port Fourchon, LA earlier this fall. Team Dominator Science mission is #PoweredByFlexSeal @GetFlexSeal
