Yellowstone is Closer to Erupting than Previously Thought; More Liquid Magma Detected

The Yellowstone supervolcano is closer to erupting than previously thought, per the results of a new scientific paper which was recently published. This raised the amount of liquid or melt in its magma chamber from an estimated 5 to 10% to 28%. This video discusses what this means and provides some context of this figure regarding other volcanoes, including California’s Long Valley Caldera. Disclaimer: Yellowstone in my opinion is not theoretically capable of producing a new volcanic eruption anytime soon, even in the next 1,000 years as its magma chamber does not contain enough melt percentage.
