Making a Medieval Dress - Part 2

In this video, I go through how I finished off my Medieval dress. Part 1 is already up on my channel if you want to see how I made the base dress. Watch Part 1 here: In Part 2, I finally finished off the neckline, cuffs, hem, and front lacing closure after having the UFO stored in a suitcase for a couple months! I experienced quite a few troubles and frustrations while making this dress and I believe that is due to me still being quite a novice sewist and therefore the things I do never really turn out how I expected them in my head. But that’s ok! This dress will still function well for my #morgana from #bbcmerlin cosplay as well as a plain medieval dress for other historical or medieval dress occasions. I just wanted to test out some historical and not-so-historical techniques to practice my sewing more and increase my sewing skills. I think this project has definitely helped in that department (especially when it comes to sewing eyelets!) MATERIALS - Cotton broadcloth, embroidery thread and sewing thread (all in the colour Bottle) from Spotlight Australia - Velvet ribbon trim 10mm wide in the colour Bottle from Lincraft Australia INSTAGRAM Find me on Instagram: @ Link: ABOUT ME I am a sewing hobbyist and lover of fantasy and historical costumes, but I also dabble in modern garment alterations sometimes. When first starting this YouTube channel, I had so many designs, ideas and concepts for fantasy movie costumes, which I illustrated through the use of photoshop. Now my interests lie with actually physically making and creating. Of course, I don’t have the time and resources to make garments as spectacular as my photoshop designs, but I am still able to enjoy the process of constructing simpler items from start to finish. On this channel, you will find a wealth of sewing diary vlogs in which I share my sewing journey and thoughts. I am an avid watcher of fellow seamstresses here on YouTube (among my favourites include Angela Clayton, Bernadette Banner and Morgan Donner) and so I thought that I would join in on the fun and upload some content of my own. Hopefully it’s helpful to someone out there!
