LUXEMBOURG STATE VISIT

(19 Jun 1972) The Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg pay the first state visit to this country, the first time that a ruler of Luxembourg has made such a visit. The Grand Duke knows this country well, from 1942-45 he was on active service with the Irish Guards. This state visit is just one of a number of ’European’ exchange state visits, prior to our entry to EEC.
