Let’s Learn Gary Burton’s insane solo on "Armando’s Rhumba" | VIBRAPHONE LESSON

“Armando’s Rhumba“ is a composition by Chick Corea, written for the duo with Gary Burton. The 1997 recording is one of the most iconic vibraphone recordings ever, in my opinion. When I think of the Burton/Corea duo, this is the first tune that comes to mind. It is so grooving, so catchy, and performed with such fire that it’s impossible not to be hooked. It’s also REALLY intimidating for vibraphonists! 20 years ago, I tried to transcribe this solo and learn it. I got about halfway through the first chorus before I realized it was way out of my grasp. There was just too much I didn’t know about harmony at the time. Now, thanks to Soundslice, it’s possible to slow things down and really clearly hear what is going on. If you want to learn this solo and have a practice guide to help you get there, this video is for you. Here is a link to the soundslice I made: I also made a video performing
