Charles-Amable Lenoir ( 1860 - 1926 ) was Academic artist from France. Lenoir was born in Châtlayon, a tiny hamlet near La Rochelle. His mother was a milliner, while his father worked for the government. Lenoir studied education in La Rochelle and then served as a teacher and administrator at the Lycée de Rochefort. Lenoir was enrolled to the Paris School of Fine Arts in August 1883. In addition, he enrolled at the Académie Julian, where he studied under Bouguereau and Robert-Fleury. Lenoir made his artistic debut at the Salon de Paris in 1887, where he exhibited for the rest of his life. His art was rapidly recognized, and in 1889 he was awarded second place in the Prix de Rome. Lenoir was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1903. In his honor, a monument was constructed in Fura in 1937. So, Charles-Amable Lenoir (fr.
