Me First and The Gimme Gimmes “I Will Survive“ (Gloria Gaynor) @ Sala Apolo (10/02/2017) Barcelona

Este es el tema 19 del concierto que los Me First and The Gimme Gimmes ofrecieron en la sala Apolo de Barcelona ante un público dispuesto al buen rollismo que les caracteriza. La banda de versiones formada en 1995 regresaba a la península tras tres años con la presencia de Jay Bentley (Bad Religion), Joey Cape y Dave Raun (Lagwagon), Scott Shiflett (Face to Face) y Spike Slawson (Swingin’ Utters -Uke-Hunt). A manos de HFMN Crew pudimos disfrutar de unos acompañantes de lujo para las tres fechas que incluyeron también Madrid y Bilbao. Los Masked Intruder se encargaron de calentar el ambiente con un show que va mas allá de lo habitual. Vestidos con pasamontañas de colores y tocando junto a un personaje caracterizado de policía la fiesta estaba asegurada. -------------------- “I Will Survive” es una canción original de (Gloria Gaynor), cuya versión sale en el tema 01 del disco “Are We Not Men? Desde clásicos del rock como Led Zeppelin, cantautores folk como Johnny Cash, clásicos del country como “Goodbye Earl“ interpretado por Dixie Chiks, pasando por algunos hits como “Uptown Girl“ de Billy Joel o “I Believe I Can Fly“ de . Los GIMME GIMMES son, sin lugar a dudas, la mejor banda de versiones que existe. Su alineación no es siempre la misma pues para girar hay que coordinar a personajes del punk tales como Fat Mike, bajista de NOFX, Scott Shiflett bajista de Face to Face y hermano del actual guitarra de los Foo Fighters ex-guitarrista de No Use For a Name, Chris Shiflett, Dave Raun y Joey Cape de Lagwagon. Ellos, junto al cantante Spike Slawson, bajista de los $wingin’ Utter$, se han encargado de darle un aire más desenfadado a clásicos temas que han marcado a varias generaciones.
