In this video we will show you how to make a river table with drawers. In the manufacture of the table, we used various materials: solid oak - about 80% of this table, for the top of the table we use 12mm plywood and knotted poplar veneer, for the manufacture of the frame we partially use pine and epoxy resin to create a table-river. Oak bars, cut on a circular saw, measuring 45mm by 95mm, will form the basis of the table frame, which will be connected to each other by pine ones measuring 95mm by 38mm. To connect the frame, I use the Festool Domino xl , which quickly helps to connect the pieces of wood to each other, and for gluing the frame, I use PVA glue. To make the boxes, I use a dovetail joint. in fact, everyone can cope with such a difficult connection as a dovetail, having such a tool in their workshop(Trend Dovetail Jig 300mm). First on a circular saw, I cut the sides of the boxes and bring them to the plane to a size of 450mm length, 140mm height and 16mm width. Then I fix the dovetail in the machine for making the connection. I use PVA glue to glue the boxes. The fronts for boxes are made of solid oak with dimensions of 840mm-length, height 200mm and thickness 18mm. For the inner legs, I use 18mm thick oak glued board. I also use PVA glue for fixing. After gluing all the parts, I use a Bosch GEX 18V-125 sander. Simple and intuitive controls We used 12mm plywood for the top of the table. Since the length of the table is 1900mm, and our plywood is 1520mm long, we had to build up the plywood. To glue the poplar veneer onto the plywood surface, we will apply contact glue as well as onto the plywood itself, and by pressing on the veneer with a piece of hardwood, we will glue the veneer to the plywood. The forces must be very strong for better adhesion. The next process will be epoxy pouring. We use a thin layer of resin to level the surface between the veneers, and after drying we fill the entire surface with a second 5mm layer of epoxy resin. Once again, after drying, we sand the surface. We fasten veneer plywood to the frame with clamps, use PU glue.
