Grape Harvest Aka South African Grape Harvest (1962)

Paarl, Cape Province, South Africa. Its harvest time in Cape Province. M/S of some people enjoying white wine. L/S of vineyards. C/U hands picking bunches of grapes. Various shots of the harvest, with teams of black workers filling large baskets and carrying them to a large truck piled high with lovely luscious dark grapes. A truck of white grapes is heading for the weighing in depot. The contents are tipped out and down a chute. M/S grapes being crushed by a mincing machine. A man mixes up grapes as they pass on a conveyor. M/S exterior of the colonial style house where the wine vats are stored. Inside wine tasters wear white coats and hats, one tester draws some red wine off from a huge vat and sniffs and swills it in his mouth. Outside women sort, weigh and pack grapes for eating. To close there is a shot of a glass of red wine with some red and white grapes, a hand comes into view to add a glass of white wine. Note : see also CP 415 Cuts.
