Can #robots feel pain?

Clearly this robot hand is not capable of feeling anything. Certainly robots will gain ever greater tactile capabilities so in some senses that will definitely change - but it will still only be data. The question is when does the interpretation of sensory input change from computation to the experience of self? If you believe that you, we, as in humans generally are sentient, then this is a phenomenon that must be explained in any theory of consciousness/the sensation of existence that is at the core of the human condition.
