Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells the story of ex-prisoner Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman), hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Russell Crowe), after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Anne Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever. Enjoy the re-mastered version of Boublil and Schönberg’s legendary musical, which is still breaking records around the world and will soon celebrate its 40th Anniversary in London’s West End. When originally released, Les Misérables stormed the global box office to become one of the most successful musical adaptations of all time, as well as triumph at the Academy Awards®, with three wins, including Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway for her portrayal of Fantine, Best Achievement in Sound Mixing and Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling.
