Using a single AEA RE88 at the centre - a stereo ribbon microphone utilising technology developed in the late 1920s - the band were placed at different proximities from the microphone. As such, everything about this recording from the levels, dynamics and placement in the stereo field was decided in the heat of the moment. Nothing was added in post production.
