Alec R. Costandinos Vol. 22: Columbia - A Space Symphony (1981)

Alec was asked to submit an album to celebrate the take off of the space shuttle Columbia on April 12, 1981. The space shuttle would be used many more times over the following 22 years until its horrendous final when it disintegrated on its way down the atmosphere in 2003, killing all 7 astronauts. But back in 1981, Alec teamed up with previous collaborators Tony Rallo and Arthur Simms as well as super session singers Georges & Michel Coste and the three musicians of French disco project VOYAGE for this album. 00:00 Ignition A Theme For Columbia 05:19 Tomorrow Stars Today 08:48 The Conquest A Theme For Columbia 15:47 Halley’s 24:33 Sailing Up Here 26:46 Peaceful And Serene 28:18 151 K Welcome Home
