Bird’s Eye Maple and Bolivian Rosewood Chess Board

In this video I made a face grain chess board with 2.5“ squares made from Bird’s Eye Maple and Bolivian Rosewood (Morado). It has a 3“ walnut frame with a 1/8“ brass border around the playing field and curly maple edge banding around the perimeter of the frame. Initials for Ray and his grandson Max are engraved with a CNC router and then gilded. 00:00 Intro 00:39 Making the Squares 08:08 Gluing the Board 13:34 Making the Frame 21:11 Adding the Brass Border 23:32 Adding the Mortise and Tenon Joinery 28:49 Carving the Initials 32:03 Cutting the Finger Slots 33:36 Adding the Gold Leaf 38:49 Applying the Finish 39:25 Photos Get the Freshest CA glues in the market at Starbond by clicking here: Use code WOODUMAKEIT15 at checkout to save 15% off your purchase.
