Almost simultaneously Capt. Charles Lindbergh - nicknamed ’The Flying Fool’ left on his lonely flight across the Atlantic from New York to Paris.“ Cranwell, Lincolnshire A huge two seater biplane is slowly pushed onto the airfield by a large number of airmen in uniform. A crowd surround the airplane. Pilots are helped into flying suits by an officer. and they pose with a lady, wearing a coat and hat, with engine running in the background. The airmen pull the chocks away and hurriedly back away from the propeller. Plane taxies round airfield and takes off, watched by onlookers, and it flies into the distance.
