Russia Promised Libya New Wagner Head Day Before Prigozhin Death, Putin’s Africa Takeover Plan?

A day before Yevgeny Prigozhin’s plane crash, Libya was informed of a new head of the PMC by a top Russian official. Reuters says a Russian official visited Libya to reassure allies that Wagner fighters would remain in the country, but under Moscow’s control. Russia’s Deputy Defence Minister reportedly told Libyan commander Khalifa Haftar that Wagner forces would report to “a new commander”. With Prigozhin believed dead, the fate of the Wagner Group and the network he created for Putin across Europe, the Middle East and Africa is uncertain.
