Ma long had two service errors at the semifinals for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The first one was a warning, in which the umpire addresses as a “let“ and the second one was a fault. These two errors happened at different times throughout the match. The first call was for allegedly hiding the ball behind his head (reference to rule ). Ma Long corrected this in his consequential service. At the 5th game, the umpire called out Ma Long the second time for adding spin on to the ball after releasing it vertically from his hand. The umpire declared, “Fault. Imparted spin onto the ball“, then awarded the point to Dima. Per rule , you cannot impart spin onto the ball in your services. What do you guys think?
