The German song is “Lili Marleen“ - recorded by Dorit Talmadge in 1941. “Le bar de l’escadrille“ is a nostalgic song which tells the story of a closely knit group of fliers who used to come together at the squadrons bar. When war breaks out several of them die in battle. Life at the squadrons bar will never be the same again. The song seems very innocent yet in the last refrain takes quite a different turn :
