THIS IS THE FATHER OF ALL DRUM SOLO’S ► STEVE GADD DRUM SOLO #2 ► ST THOMAS ► 1990

Again an astonishing drum solo of Steve Gadd! What a confidence, What an articulation, but most of all how musical. I got a lot of comments about, he is doing the same solo over and over with the same “ Bag of tricks“. This means that the person who write that kind of comments don’t have any musicality in his body. I think this is the topic of my next video, hmmm.... Because you develop your vocabulary ( Bag of Tricks), if you are lucky, but mostly stolen, But mr Gadd wrote his own original “Bag“. And he is the main example to use the “ bag of tricks“ in flavor of the music. Not as the most other drummers who have there tricks but totally not in a musical context. Mr Gadd always tells a very musical story, and a very nice one! So that’s why he is the father of all drumsolo’s or drummers. The old jazz cats did that of course also!
