Joe Biden has hailed the release of jailed journalist Evan Gershkovich and two other American citizens as a “feat of diplomacy”. “Today, their agony is over,” the US president wrote in a statement shared online shortly after the biggest prisoner swap since the Cold War. Mr Biden confirmed that negotiations had resulted in the release of 16 people, including five Germans and seven Russian citizens.
