STORYLINE:
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad arrived in Argentina on Friday for a one-day official visit to the country, and met President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner at the presidential palace, the Casa Rosada.
After a formal welcome ceremony, the two leaders held a private meeting.
