Calliope Mori - Wanted, Wasted (Metal Remix)

Calli delving into J-Rock was unexpected, but it’s surely a welcome surprise! I’ve been itching for her to do a song with this kind of aggression for ages. It’s super cool that she got to work with The Oral Cigarettes, which sounds like a dream come true for her. This song has my favorite vocal performance from Calli off the entire album -- it’s angry, to be sure, but there’s also hints of desperation, of pain, of Like Calli said, Wrath is about more than just anger. To fit with that idea, I chose to imitate the style of a band that’s equal parts heavy and melodic: Arch Enemy. I’ve seen them classified as melodic death metal, although I’d personally put most of their instrumental parts closer to power metal, but regardless, their music has an emotional complexity to it that felt perfect for this song, blending fast rhythms with harmonious lead parts.
