Salad Bowl of Canada!! Lettuce, Carrots & Onions - Agriculture 2022. Today I am learning about the Holland Marsh area north of Toronto and all the salad bowl crops they grow. I am here with Kevin Vander Kooi at the University of Guelph Muck Crops Research Center in Holland Marsh, Ontario, Canada. I am amazed at the farming history in this area and how they pick wood instead of rocks out of their once marshy fields!!! I am also amazed at how much produce can be grown in such a small area. This is nothing like farming in Montana, where it takes thousands of acres to earn a living farming wheat and barley! They get so much rain here and the soil is totally different than what I am used to!!! I also learn how a robot can be programmed to detect weeds and insects on crops.
