Rhythm (1943)

Rhythm. Probably filmed at Pathe studios, London. A man covers his ears at the sound of drums, good shots of young couple jitterbug. Men clap their hands and stamp their feet to the rhythm, C/U of a girl moving to the music. A man drums on a chair and other men listen to swing music on wireless sets in a shop. A special camera measures beats of drums and shows the spark from the rhythm. Joe Noble listens to a man’s heart and puts the stethoscope to a microphone. Various shots of a girl doing an exotic oriental dance. A tap drips. M/S as a man falls down and drops his books, the film is reversed and played again to show the rhythm. Various shots of different seasons. C/U of a girl in bathing costume walking towards the camera. C/U of legs jitterbugging again. M/S of the drummer. A diagram shows the rhythm in an atom.
