This had been a long story in the making! I think the tape with the sound issues from Night 1 is well known. 4 years ago, I found a 1st gen cassette with an audience recording, but it proved to be impossible to fix. Simply because the audience tape had serious speed issues. Not in the way of just being off like it’s usually the case with older analogue recordings, but in the way of the speed changes following no logic pattern. For example: When the first drum hit of Tico in a song and the last one fit after speed correction, everything in the middle was still terribly off. To make things even worse, the sound quality of the audience tape kept changing all the time as well. So after 3 songs or so, I threw it all in the trash 4 years ago and in the meantime, many other fans tried it as well and no one could get it done either. About a month ago, I decided that this isn’t it, went back, decided to cut the audio every 3 minutes and align them. I still had to make further cuts about every minute and at some points, especially in the beginning, you can hear slight echoes or overlays when the audio parts were pulled back and forth to somehow fit. But this way, we finally got there and even though there still is some slight offset in spots, I think it’s enjoyable by now! I mixed the file with the original Soundboard stream, so the audience recording only comes in when channels of the original one dropped out. I had to heavily clean and remaster the audience tape to somewhat fit the sound, but you’ll definitely hear the difference. On Blaze Of Glory, Richie’s guitar wasn’t audible in the original stream nor in the audience recording and on Keep The Faith, I changed the EQ during the solo to keep the guitar from being too drowned out.
