According to Wikipedia, Metroid first released on the 6th of August 1986 for the Famicom Disk System while Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished released in 1987 (no exact date mentioned in wikipedia) for the NEC PC-8801. The item tunes sound similar, whether the Ys treasure box tune was inspired by the Metroid item tune is another matter.
