It helps you inhale and exhale, talks, and smells. Warms and moistens air to your body’s needs. Delivers oxygen to cells, removes waste gases, including carbon dioxide, and protects airways from hazardous substances and irritants. Many elements of the respiratory system help you breathe. Each group has numerous parts. Airways bring air to lungs. Your airways include: Mouth and nose bring outside air into the lungs. Sinuses are hollow regions between your head’s bones that regulate temperature and humidity. Pharynx is Tube that carries air from mouth and nose to trachea (windpipe).
