Defence of PhD dissertation by Mikhail Lobachev [LUT University, ]

This video presents the defence of PhD dissertation “Analytical-Numerical Methods for Nonlinear Analysis and Synthesis of Phase-Locked Loops“ by Mikhail Lobachev held at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT on September 21, 2024. Supervisors: Prof. Leonid Chechurin, Prof. Pekka Neittaanmäki, Prof. Nikolay V. Kuznetsov Opponent: Prof. Vladimir Răsvan. Custos: Prof. Leonid Chechurin The present work follows the modern approach of combining numerical and analytical methods to analyze the complex dynamics of applied systems. This approach was the basis of the cooperation program between the Department of Applied Cybernetics at Saint Petersburg University and the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä under the guidance of Profs. Pekka Neittaanmäki, Gennady Leonov, and Nikolay Kuznetsov. This collaboration has yielded a significant output, with 14 PhD dissertations over a 14-year period at the University of Jyväskylä. As a recognition to their contribution, Profs. Gennady Leonov and Nikolay Kuznetsov were elected as foreign members of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters. Additionally, 3 dissertations were defended at Saint Petersburg University, where the unique experience of this cooperation program with the University of Jyväskylä was used in 2013 to regain the right to award its own PhD degree. Then, the Finnish-Russian collaboration was continued with the Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology under supervision of Profs. Leonid Chechurin, Nikolay Kuznetsov, and Pekka Neittaanmäki and support of Team Finland Knowledge program grant No. 163/83/2021, resulted in two dissertations: this work and the work of T. Alexeeva.
