Here’s another groove warmup-snippet from an old Instagram post. 4-bar groove loops with different layers of phrasings and 2- or 4-bar repetitions. The idea is to improvise a groove for one bar and then repeat it identically 3 times and then switch to a new groove again in bar 5, repeating the process for as long as possible without repeating any previous ideas and grooves. It’s a nice physical and especially mental warmup that I like to do before recording sessions.
