Her grandfather, Pyotr Yakovlevich Fedotov, and then her father, Vladimir Petrovich, performed on the stage of the Mariinsky, doing a lot for the development of Russian flute music in general. Maria’s mother, Lia Grigorievna Melik-Muradyan, also played the violin in the theater orchestra. ---------------------- Maria Fedotova began her music studies at the age of five, and three years after she performed with the Mariinsky Chamber Orchestra and appeared in duet with her father Vladimir Fedotov, himself notable flutist.
