A Closer Look: 19th century Fashion - How To Tell Different Decades Apart? Part 2 | Cultured Elegance In this video, we will discuss the changing times of 19th century fashion and how to tell the difference between the different decades. We talk about 1850s fashion and the influence of femininity and light flowing materials. Then in the 1860s where the large skit becomes the largest and we slowly see a shift of volume towards the back of the dress. Then to the left 1870s with vibrant details and batters with the emphasis wards the back increase steadily. In the 1880s the shelf like bustle appears with vibrant colorful fabrics and tons of ruffles and details. Then to the 1890s where the bustle disappears and the sleeve size grows dramatically only then to decline.
