Seal surveillance: Adorable seal caught spying on researcher

A wildlife researcher visiting the Farallon Islands, a nature reserve off San Francisco, was amused to see a northern elephant seal staring at her as she went about her work. Natalia Cara de Medeiros, who was at the islands in December of 2021 while assisting Point Blue Conservation Science with research, recorded this encounter with one of the nature reserve’s young northern elephant seals. The video was recorded during elephant seal breeding season, Medeiros said.
