My Alaskan Cabin Build (The Roof Slats) - Wk 9

Today I bought the roofing metal. If all goes as planned I will install it this weekend. You may be wondering why I did not extend the roof sheeting (plywood) out over the soffits. I want the roof over the cabin’s interior to be very waterproof, so I installed sheeting in that area and covered it with bituthene membrane. But outside the cabin, when I look up underneath the soffits and porch roof, I want the rustic look of bare metal over wooden slats. With this design I have both. The river in this video is Granite Creek just outside of Sutton, Alaska. My wife grew up close by in a little cabin built by her father and mother. She spent many summer afternoons in these mountains riding her beloved horse Limerick. We tried to get up to our cabin in the mountains yesterday but the snow is still way too deep and very soft so we had to turn back.
